Meet our Valkyrie adoptees

Ok, it is time you meet our first Valkyrie adoptees. They are awesome. What can I say about them? Well...

Meet Tim...

He was the first to respond to one of my letters to the Canadian troops. He is stationed in Afghanistan and is one of the few who got an eleven month tour vs. the standard six months. Right off the bat I knew he was unique. In his letter he said, "I do it (his job as a soldier) so I can make a difference." Well guess what? That's why Nelly and I support our troops, so we can make a difference. Ever since he wrote me back, we have become friends and talk as often as we can.

Now, meet Arjan...

He was the lucky second soldier to become a Valkyrie adoptee. Arjan is from Holland but is stationed with Canadian soldiers. They are actually part of an multi-national camp. He cracked me up from the beginning. In his letter he said, "What do we do with a Dutch dude you are thinking?" I knew right then he and I would hit it off. We have just about the same sense of humor. His wife is beautiful. He shared their wedding pictures with me. I have talked with her a couple of times and she is very nice. She would like to help Nelly and I with the Valkyries. :-)

Meet Carl...

I'm not sure if he is aware that he has been adopted by the Valkyries. I should let him know that ;-) Anyway, Carl is hilarious and is also from Canada. He keeps giving me pointers for riding my motorcycle, "Keep the shiny side up." Sheesh, ya drop it once and ya get harassed forever but I wouldn't have it any other way, hahaha. Carl is a newlywed and is spending his first year of marriage deployed. He said that he has been told that the first year of marriage is the hardest. Well, I hate to tell him this but it doesn't get any easier the longer you've been married, sorry.

Each one of our soldiers holds a special place in our hearts because they not only become a friend but they become a part of our family. They share their family with us, their good days, and their bad days. I am just glad that we can be there for them as a Soldiers' Angel, Valkyrie, and a friend when they need to talk or just want to laugh.
